We are incredibly proud to congratulate Gilroy Catholic College Year 7 student, Ella Wassif on an outstanding achievement, taking 1st Place in the U15 NSW State Youth Lead Climbing Titles! Competing against older athletes, Ella demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and resilience to be crowned U15 NSW State Champion—a remarkable accomplishment and a true reflection of her dedication and hard work. As a result of this incredible performance, Ella has automatically qualified to represent NSW in the U15 Bouldering and Lead events in 2027. Congratulations, Ella! We can't wait to see all that you achieve next!

Recently, four Gilroy Catholic College Year 12 Student Leaders joined fellow student leaders from schools across the diocese for the annual LIFTED Student Leaders Forum. The day provided a valuable opportunity to explore some of the biggest issues facing young people today. From conversations about social media, artificial intelligence and identity to reflecting on their own faith journeys, students shared their perspectives, learned from one another and built meaningful connections. Over 125 students from 10 Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese (CSPD) schools have been recognised for their empathy and powerful storytelling as part of the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS) Australia Refugee Week Creative Competition.

Recently, Gilroy Catholic College students competed in the Girls’ Football Gala Day at Jamison Oval—and they didn’t just participate, they dominated! Our girls went undefeated in the group stage, recording three wins and one draw while keeping a perfect defensive record, outscoring their opponents 7–0. In the semi-final, they faced Catherine McAuley and rose to the occasion, scoring two early goals on their way to a convincing 3–0 victory. The grand final saw Gilroy take on an equally undefeated Marian side in a fantastic contest. Our girls delivered another outstanding performance, scoring twice to secure a 2–0 win and claim the Gala Day title! With this incredible achievement, the team has earned the opportunity to represent PDSSSC at the NSWCCC Gala Day. Congratulations to all the girls on an outstanding tournament! You represented Gilroy Catholic College with respect, teamwork, determination, and perseverance. We wish you all the best at the next stage!

Recently, Gilroy Catholic College Year 11 Physics students visited Luna Park to complete their mandatory Depth Study for the Kinematics and Dynamics modules of the NSW Physics syllabus. Throughout the day, students brought classroom theory to life by investigating the physics behind some of the park's most iconic rides, including the Big Dipper, Tango Train, Dodgem Cars and Rotor. They explored key concepts such as Newton's laws of motion, mechanical energy, friction, momentum and gravity, applying their knowledge to real-world scenarios. The data and observations collected during the excursion will contribute to their upcoming assessment task, making it a valuable and engaging learning experience! #lunapark #applyingphysics #scienceisfun

On Monday 22 June, Gilroy Catholic College Year 9 and 10 Japanese students enjoyed a fantastic Japanese culture excursion to Sydney, bringing their classroom learning to life through authentic experiences. The day began with a visit to an art gallery, where students explored a range of fascinating artworks before enjoying a delicious Japanese lunch at Ichibanboshi. They then visited Kinokuniya Bookstore, browsing Japanese books, manga and merchandise, before finishing the day at Genki Mart, where they discovered a variety of Japanese snacks and products. The excursion provided students with a wonderful opportunity to experience aspects of Japanese culture firsthand, while creating lasting memories with their classmates. It was a fun, engaging and rewarding day, and we are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the College throughout the excursion.
